The home side started their season well with a convincing home win over Newcastle. They may have dropped 2 points through a draw to Fulham at the Cottage in the 2nd day, but it’s always hard to beat these Cottagers at their own den. Also Nani threw away a PK that ‘could’ have changed the outcome.
West Ham on the other hand had an extremely poor start, losing both their opening games and conceding 3 in each of them. Their midweek win over Oxford (Carling Cup) was had laboured and Parker only scored the winner in the last minute of the game. In other words, the Hammers are in trouble and are now a good bet to get relegated already (although we are only 2 games into the season).
Sir Alex may have not been too active in the transfer market, but still he appears to have a very good squad. In fact good enough to still beat anyone, and especially at Old Trafford.
Wayne Rooney will be back to lead the Red Devils attack, but whether he can finally find the net is another question. He seems to have a psychological problem to face in order to get back to scoring gold.
We have no case for the visitors. A clear home win here.
