While the English were enjoying a free ride at Wembley vs Bulgaria on Friday, Switzerland -who were given a by on the day- were playing out a 0-0 draw vs Australia, with Mark Schwarzer ‘magically’ healing to defend the Socceroos net.

This -of course- is a feature of Swiss football of late. They simply cannot find the net.

In the WC they defeated the eventual winners, Spain. Yet that was the only goal they scored in 3 games and they ended up knocked out. We still remember them losing at home to Luxembourg in the European qualifiers and we are by no means willing to trust them.

England? Well, they are not to be trusted in the finals, but we sure would rather back them in these qualifiers than the likes of France and Italy, who both seem to perform way below their names.

We reckon if Schwarzer can keep a clean sheet vs the Swiss, so can Joe Hart, and all it takes for England to win should be for Defoe to score, and he will.
