Bolton had the upper hand vs Tottenham in the FA Cup fixture in the weekend all through the 1st half. However, a 2nd half proved Spurs the stronger side and Bolton should really be thankful that penalty kick was wasted by Huddlestone or they would have most certainly been knocked out already.
Still, Bolton showed they have some good football to show, and with both Wilshere and Weiss back in contention they should be alright.
Now Wigan are winless in 6, and they have a relatively weak attack than most EPL sides, yet they somehow manage to stay just above the relegation zone.
Bolton are also of a very numb frontline. They only scored once in their last 4 games in all competitions, but you’d have to excuse them having faced Liverpool, Man City, Fulham and Spurs in them.
Maybe Moses; the former Crystal Palace striker will start for Wigan? It’s not a certainty, but it’s likely. Elmander on the other hand has switched from the goalscoring role to creating the Trotters chances.
My guess is a draw will suffice for the visitors under the circumstances, while it may also prove enough –for now- to keep the hosts buoyant above the relegation zone.
Last season’s corresponding fixture ended goalless, and I suspect this one also may end up the same. Neither side has the firepower to score goals, and if either side is targeting the draw the other will not be able to break through.
Pick: Draw
